27 Year-Old Man Faces Multiple Charges After Ramming Stolen Car Into Police Vehicle

WINNIPEG – A suspect driving a stolen vehicle rammed a police car after he was surrounded, damaging the car and then resisted arrest after a brief foot chase.

Police came across the stolen vehicle travelling on Salter Street at about 9:00 PM., on May 24 and followed it to Charles Street where the driver proceeded to ram the police car, damaging the front bumper.

Officers were required to surround the stolen vehicle to prevent it from driving any further and the suspect fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, he was apprehended on Mountain Avenue where he resisted arrest. He was eventually safely taken into custody.

He was later found to be in possession of 18 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $1,800) and $360 in Canadian currency.

27 year-old Ryan Joseph Roulette has been charged with:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

– Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon (x2)

– Resist Peace Officer

– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

– Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice

– Drive without licence or with invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)

He was also processed on outstanding arrest warrants for charges that include:

– Fail to Attend Court – Recognizance by Judge/Justice

– Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice

Roulette was detained in custody.
