WINNIPEG – Police have charged a 28 year-old man for the murder of 20 year-old Yassin Abdu Ahmed who was shot along with two other men on January 12 on Garry Street.

On January 28, 2020, investigators located and arrested 28 year-old Alrick Denon Banton. At the time of his arrest, Banton was in possession of a firearm magazine containing several rounds of ammunition. He has been charged with:

Second Degree Murder

Attempt to Commit Murder

Discharge Restricted Firearm with Intent X2

Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

He has been detained in custody
