WINNIPEG, MB – RCMP in Carberry and Rivers Police Service said a 29 year old man died from a snowmobile collision yesterday.
Police said that on March 11, around 5 PM RCMP and the Rivers Police Service responded to a report of a snowmobile collision, in the RM of Riverdale, on the Little Saskatchewan River. The collision occurred approximately 15 kilometres southeast of Rivers near Provincial Road 270.
A 29-year-old male, from Oakview, was travelling northbound in the trail system when it appears he drove over the edge of a ravine bank, dropping about 20 metres and landing on the frozen river below. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police said the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and it is unknown if alcohol or speed played a factor.
