33 Year-Old Winnipeg Man Hides in Basement to Avoid Arrest

WINNIPEG – On December 27th at 1:45 am., police observed a suspicious vehicle driving on Manitoba Avenue. When they turned around to check the vehicle, the driver pulled over and ran away on foot.

There were three more people inside the vehicle, but they refused to cooperate with police and were arrested.

A search of the vehicle located a BB gun under the driver’s side seat.

When Tactical Support Unit members and a K9 unit arrived they conducted a search and found the driver hiding in a basement nearby.The owner of the vehicle later advised that she loaned her vehicle to one of the occupants.

33 year-old Jesse Troy John Lafreniere has been charged with Possessing a Weapon, Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and failing to Comply with a Condition of Recognizance.

He has been detained. All passengers were released from custody without charges.
