Grand Rapids, MB. – RCMP respond to shots fired at a home in Grand Rapids, one man is in custody.
RCMP received a call on December 14 near 8 am about a person discharging a firearm towards a home on River Road. The reports also indicated that the suspect was attempting to gain entry into the home.
When officers arrived that saw an individual fleeing from the scene on a snowmobile.
RCMP said in a release, they were able to track the snowmobile and attempted to stop the suspect, however, he ran from police. A short time later, RCMP said, the snowmobile broke down and the driver attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly arrested by officers without incident.
RCMP charged Shayne Karol, a 38-year-old man from Grand Rapids, with Careless Use of a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and numerous other Criminal Code offences.
Luckily, the two occupants inside the home that was hit by gunfire were not injured.
