61 Year-Old Man Victim of Carjacking

WINNIPEG – A 61 year-old man was yanked from his car and had it stolen on Beverley Street on November 27th.

At about 10:50 pm. a man was carjacked as he was driving on Beverley Street near Ellice Avenue. A group of people stopped his vehicle and demanded that he get out. When he refused they pulled him out of the vehicle. They then drove away in his 2003 Nissan Sentra.

Five minutes later, police were called to a collision on Sherbrook Street. The vehicle had struck a building and the driver and passenger were seen running away. A passenger in the rear of the vehicle was injured and taken to hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition. The vehicle was identified as the one that had been stolen during the carjacking.

Several vehicles parked in the area were struck just prior to collisions. No injuries have been reported.
