63-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed

WINNIPEG – Saturday a 63-year-old pedestrian was struck by an SUV and pronounced dead at the site of the accident.

RCMP reported that around 8:10PM officers from the Steinbach responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision that happened at the intersection of Highway 12 and Road 52 North, in the RM of Tache.

According to Police an SUV, being driven by a 34-year-old man from the RM of Ste. Anne, was travelling south on Highway 12 when he struck a 63-year-old man, from the RM of Tache, who was walking northbound in the southbound lane.

The driver stopped his vehicle and immediately called 911.

Police said alcohol is not a factor in the collision.

Steinbach RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionists continue to investigate.
