A 24 & 14-Year-Old Arrested After a Day of Crime


WINNIPEG – A 24 and 14-year-old were arrested for stabbing a man and a number of other incidents that occurred on Thursday.

The two arrested seem to begin their day of crime around 2:00PM Thursday. A 45-year-old man, in the area of Chancellor Matheson Rd. and University Cr., called police about his tires being slashed and items stolen from his vehicle.

The victim located two males nearby, going through property stolen from his vehicle. When he confronted them and asked for his property back things turned. One of the suspects pulled a knife and attempted to slash the victim. They then took off, however the victim retrieved his wallet.

The suspects then went to a vehicle parked on Tulane Bay which was reported stolen May 23. The vehicle was recovered by police, however, the two suspects were gone.

Later in the evening, around 6:30 PM, A 30-year-old man was stabbed on Ulster Street. Police said the victim confronted the two suspects who were causing a disturbance outside and asked them to move along as there were children in the area. One of the men pulled a pocket knife and attacked the victim, who fell to the ground. The victim was stabbed in the upper body by one man, while the second man jumped on the victim. A woman tried to intervene however the man with the knife turned his attention to her. She and the victim were chased by the suspects but able to get to an area of safety.

While on scene, witnesses told police the suspects were nearby and officers were able to locate and arrest them both.

A 14-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested for Assault with a Weapon, Robbery, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Assault with a Weapon.

And Batista Nikola Sanderson, a 24-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Possess Weapon X2
  • Utter Threats
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance X3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Robbery
  • Mischief Under
  • Possession of an Identity Document X3
