A Big Win in Front of a Big Crowd for the Manitoba Moose

WINNIPEG, MB. – This afternoon, 9,866 fans celebrated New Years Eve with a big win by the Manitoba Moose.

The Moose beat the San Jose Barracuda 5 -2 to close off 2017 on a positive note. Manitoba’s scored first on a power play goal by Michael Spacek at 4:22. The Moose added another in the first thanks to a goal by Chase De Leo.

San Jose battled back in the second period. Brandon Mashinter got the Barracuda within one at 8:20 of the frame and he was followed by Adam Helewka just 2:15 later to set the score at 2-2. Manitoba then got back out in front with another power play goal by Chase De Leo who fired a one-timer past Bibeau along the ice.

The Moose got right to work in the third period when at Just 32 seconds, Peter Stoykewych’s point shot redirected into the net off Buddy Robinson to restore Manitoba’s two-goal edge.

The third also was a little more feisty, the teams combined for 54 penalty minutes. Nic Petan capped off the night with the final goal at 13:28 of the third. The Moose rolled to a 5-2 victory to earn a season series split (2-2-0-0) with the Barracuda.
