WINNIPEG – Dig out that outstanding library book and bring it, along with your fine to the Winnipeg Public Library this Saturday.

In recognition of Family Literacy Day, the Winnipeg Public Library will be donating all fines and fees collected at all branches on Saturday, January 26 to The Winnipeg Foundation’s Literacy for Life Fund.

“The Literacy for Life Fund is instrumental in providing grants to family literacy programs in Manitoba,” said Ed Cuddy, Manager of Library Services. “January 26 is an excellent opportunity to pay your overdue fines and help bring books, healthy play and quality learning to your local community.”

The Literacy for Life Fund was established in 2003 by The Winnipeg Foundation, Literacy Partners of Manitoba, and the Winnipeg Public Library. Since the fund was founded, the Winnipeg Public Library has donated approximately $32,000.
