WINNIPEG – A 28 year-old woman was robbed by a knife-wielding man while waiting for a bus.
The victim was at a bus stop at Arlington And Notre Dame at about 8:30 pm. on February 9 when a man, armed with a knife approached her and demanded her purse. She gave it to him and he fled.
The suspect then used her credit card at three different locations.
The next day another 19 year-old woman was robbed at knife-point by two men. She was going to work at 7:40 am when the two men approached her at McPhillips and Notre Dame. They took her lunch bag, back pack and phone. Before they ran off, one of the suspects threatened her and then asked for a kiss which she declined.
Two hours later an 81-year-old woman was walking up the steps to her church when when a man tried to grab her purse. The straps broke and she fell to the ground. The suspect fled with the purse. She was fortunately not seriously hurt but her credit card was used at three different locations.
Police found 27 year-old Jamie Lee Beardy shortly after and charged him with:
– Robbery (x3)
– Disguise with Intent
– Possess Weapon
– Carry Concealed Weapon, prohibited Device, or Ammunition
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (x6)
– Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Date (x6)
– Uttering Threats
– Sexual Assault
He was detained in custody.
