BRANDON – Brandon Police say a number of vehicles were taken off the road in a joint enforcement effort with members from Manitoba Motor Carrier Enforcement and a member from the CN Police.
The purpose of the Enforcement Program is to ensure that commercial vehicles meet the required safety standards by checking things like vehicle weights and dimensions, load securement, licensing, and a truck safety inspection to name a few.
A total of 26 units were inspected from which 4 were placed out of service, mainly for brake system defects, and one driver who was suspended. Of the remaining units, 8 failed due to issues with the brake system or the exhaust system, or inoperative lighting, or inadequate tires.
Fourteen units passed the level 1 inspection and received the decal for passing the inspection.
