WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police recovered the body of a woman from the Red River Wednesday around the lunch hour.

At noon Wednesday, emergency personnel responded to the banks of the Red River in the 600 block of Kildonan Drive regarding reports of a body being located.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit pulled the body a woman form the river.

Police said the cause of death is unconfirmed and an autopsy is pending.
