WINNIPEG, MB – The pending legalization of cannabis has raised numerous questions about how drugs impair driving.

Manitoba Public Insurance is taking their message of cannabis-impaired driving directly to students in the province. More than 600 students from Winnipeg’s Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute viewed an impactful video about the fatal consequences of driving while high.

“Raising awareness and initiating conversations about drug-impaired driving is very important, particularly among young drivers who may have misconceptions about the impacts that cannabis and other drugs can having on a person’s ability to operate a vehicle safely,” said Ward Keith, vice-president, Business Development and Communications, CAO, Manitoba Public Insurance.

Manitoba Public Insurance is the provincial sponsor of MADD Canada’s School Assembly Program, which officially launched in Manitoba this week and will reach an estimated 100,000 middle and high school students through more than 100 presentations over the next several weeks.
