Carjacker Drags Police While Attempting to Flee

WINNIPEG – A 25 year-old Winnipeg woman faces a number of charges after she carjacked a food delivery driver at knifepoint.

Klarissa Faye Muswagon approached the victim as he was trying to make a delivery in the 300 block of Sherbrook Street. She produced a knife and took his vehicle.

A short time later, police spotted her driving and after a short pursuit stopped her on Pritchard Avenue.

As police attempted to take the occupants of the vehicle into custody, Muswagon put the car into drive and dragged a K9 officer a short distance before managing to flee. The officer was not injured significantly.

A second pursuit ensued and came to an end when she abandoned the stolen vehicle in the 300 block of Powers Street and fled on foot. She was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. A male passenger also fled.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

25 year-old Klarrisa Faye Muswagon has been charged with:

– Robbery

– Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

– Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon

– Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

– Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice (x2)

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

– Drive without licence or with invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)

She was detained in custody.
