CROSS LAKE – A house fire in Cross Lake has taken the life of a 93 year-old woman.

On August 9, 2019, at approximately 3:30 am, Cross Lake RCMP officers noticed smoke coming from a residence in the community. They attempted, but were unable to gain entry through the front door due to heavy smoke.

The officers broke multiple windows to help clear the smoke and immediately noticed a female on the floor of the home. They entered and brought her outside to safety. The 93-year-old female was taken to hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner along with the RCMP continue to investigate.
