EMERSON – An Illinois man, trying to make a mad dash to the border before it closed, managed to rack up almost $1,500 in speeding and careless driving tickets.

RCMP clocked the 28 year-old man driving 153 kmh in poor driving conditions on highway 75, after concerned drivers called 911 regarding an erratic driver. He received a $744 speeding ticket, a $672 ticket for careless driving plus other charges.

A night in a hotel would have saved him a few dollars.
