VICTORIA BEACH – An unauthorized chemical added to water supply has prompted Provincial Officials to issue a DO NOT DRINK WATER advisory for the town of Victoria Beach.
The advisory has been issued for the Town’s drinking water system by the medical officer of health and Manitoba Sustainable Development.
The system has been compromised after an unauthorized chemical was added to the treatment process.
This has resulted in unacceptable low levels of chlorine in the treated water and the microbiological safety of the water cannot be assured.
It appears the issue was detected before any significant exposure of unsafe water to the public occurred.
Notification of residents is underway and the advisory will remain in place until the safety of the water can be assured.
