WINNIPEG, MB. – Winnipeg Police have found a drug lab in an apartment located in the 300 block of Kennedy Street.
Police said they received a call from management December 21 alerting them to the existence of a possible drug lab located within a building.
When police arrived they at the vacant suite they found a clandestine drug lab. Equipment and a large quantity of chemicals were also located within the residence that suggests the lab was likely being used to manufacture methamphetamine. The lab did not appear to be operational at this time.
Labs like this do present a number of potential hazards including; fire, explosion and the presence of toxic chemicals. A special unit of The Winnipeg Police, the Clandestine Lab Team, was called out as well as various units from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, including Hazmat units.
