WINNIPEG, MB. – The Rady Jewish Community Centre is excited to announce two-time Super Bowl Champion, Eli Manning, as its keynote speaker for the 46th Annual Rady JCC Ken Kronson Sports Dinner on June 18, 2018.
“Eli Manning is an elite NFL quarterback with a ton of pedigree, one who always comes through in the clutch,” Sports Dinner Chair, Blair Worb says. “We’ve been fortunate to have a number of elite NFL quarterbacks speak at our dinner in the past, and Eli is no different.
“He is also very philanthropic – which resonates with the mission of this dinner – to support those in our community who need it most.”
In his Super Bowl wins (XLII and XLVI), both victories over the New England Patriots as a member of the New York Giants, he was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
Eli holds Giants’ franchise records for most passing yards, touchdown passes and completed passes in a career, and the NFL record for most fourth-quarter touchdown passes in a season. He is the seventh all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns in NFL history.
Off the field, Eli is involved in numerous charitable organizations. He and his family assisted in the relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina by organizing airlifts of emergency supplies to areas affected by the hurricane in his hometown of New Orleans and surrounding areas.
He has been honored by the Police Athletic League of New York City and has become the Giants’ leader in supporting the National Football League and American Heart Association’s campaign, What Moves U, a national youth movement and awareness initiative designed to promote physical fitness and healthy living to an increasingly inactive generation of children.
He is also a member of the American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. He also uses his time to champion the efforts of The March of Dimes, and committed $2.5 million for construction of the new Eli Manning Children’s Clinics at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Annual Rady JCC Sports Dinner is now known as the Rady JCC Ken Kronson Sports Dinner, in recognition of the man who chaired the dinner for more than 40 years dating back to the early ‘70s, Mr. Ken Kronson. Ken passed away in 2017 and is sorely missed.
The Sports Dinner treats guests to a gala dinner, silent, live and rainbow auctions, and once-in-a-lifetime interactions with sports celebrities. There’s also a VIP experience, including photos, with the guest of honour and local honourees who have contributed to the community.
This year’s honourees are title sponsors from RBC Dominion Securities, Ryan Downey, Brendan Rogers and Paul Winestock. This trio have supported the dinner for a decade as major sponsors.
Funds raised from the dinner have been making Winnipeg a better place for 45 years. Through the Rady JCC’s community service programs, help is provided to financially disadvantaged children and families, those with special needs are fully able to participate in camps and specialized programs and much more.
