WINNIPEG – City police are switching from education to enforcement of COVID-19 rules.
Officers have only issued eight tickets since the pandemic began but according to Constable Rob Craver, that’s about to change.
The fine for an individual breaking a public health order is $1,296.
Manitoba RCMP and Winnipeg bylaw officers are also authorized to hand out tickets.
The Mounties say they responded to 182 calls last week related to coronavirus but only made three arrests.
We received 182 #COVID19 related calls between Oct 26-Nov 1 & charged 3 adult females in 3 separate files, under the Public Health Act. Those living outside of Wpg are reminded to call MB Government Inquiry line at 1-866-626-4862 for #COVID19 related issues/non-compliance #rcmpmb
