SELKIRK, MB. – The Selkirk RCMP respond to a fatal accident involving two-vehicles yesterday, December 21 around 6:30 PM.
The collision occurred on Highway 9, just north of Highway 17, approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Selkirk, in the RM of St. Andrews.
RCMP said in a news release that investigators believe a southbound 4-door car, driven by a 49-year-old male from the RM of Gimli, crossed over the centre line and struck a northbound pick-up truck, driven by a 50-year-old male from Winnipeg.
The driver of the car, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the pick-up truck were both taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said in the release that it is unknown if speed or alcohol are factors in the collision.
