News

WINNIPEG, MB – A 57-year-old Winnipeg man died today after a collision on Highway 9 at Bowser Road in the RM of St. Andrews around 1:15 PM.

Police believe a northbound SUV, being driven by the Winnipeg man, was attempting to pass another vehicle when he collided head-on with a southbound pickup truck, being driven by a 40-year-old man from the RM of St. Andrews. The vehicle that was passed then subsequently struck the debris from the collision and was forced to the side of the road.

The 57-year-old driver of the SUV, who RCMP say was not wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition, it is unclear at this time if he was wearing his seatbelt.

In a press release police said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
