A Winnipeg cop, leaving police headquarters early this morning, was attacked and suffered a serious injury.

She stepped in when a man was bothering a delivery person. Two cadets also joined in. But without warning, the man turned and attacked the off duty officer. She was taken to hospital in stable condition.

35 year old Bertram Charles Willcocks is in custody and faces a charge of assaulting a police officer.
