Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG -Fire crews were busy today fighting two house fires and a commercial fire starting just after 3:00 this morning.

A commercial fire on Dawson Road was quickly extinguished in a shipping area at 3:24 this morning. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Just an hour later, crews responded to a fire at a home on Riverton Ave where six occupants had already self evacuated. Two of the individuals were checked out but no one required hospitalization. No damage reports are available yet and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

At 11:38 am. fire and paramedic crews responded to a call on Lake Grove Bay where they extinguished a fire in the kitchen. The cause of the fire was accidental and no injuries were reported.

Residents are reminded to always stay in the kitchen while cooking. Stove burners should always be turned off when leaving the kitchen, even for a short time. Anything that can catch fire – oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, towels, or curtains – should always be kept away from the stovetop.
