WINNIPEG – It took fire crews 1 1/2 hours to extinguish a fire in a home on Bowman Avenue late last night.
Crews responded to the fire at about 11:30 pm on January 7 and tried to fight the fire from inside the home. With heavy fire in the attic, they were forced to leave the home and fight the fire from outside. The fire was extinguished at about 1:00am.
Two adults and one child were evacuated safely although they were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
Drivers in the area should exercise caution as the water used to fight the fire covered the road and has now frozen. City of Winnipeg will be monitoring the area and applying sand and de-icing agents as required.
