WINNIPEG – A fire in the 1300 block of Taylor Avenue has caused severe fire, smoke and water damage to a suite on the ninth floor as well as smoke and water damage to several other suites.

Fire and Paramedic crews responded to the fire just after 7 this morning and was under control by 7:30 am.

Residents from two floors were evacuated and sheltered on Transit buses which were brought to the scene. Three occupants of the building were transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Traffic will be impacted until crews clear the scene.
