First Nations Vaccination Plan

Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – The province has announced its vaccination plan for First Nations.

Residents and staff at personal care homes will be at the front of the line.

Then it will be health care workers, people over 60 in remote areas and over 70 in other communities.

5,300 doses of vaccine have been sent to Manitoba’s 63 First Nations, with another 5,300 on the way later this month.

First Nations people make up over 70 per cent of the province’s active COVID-19 cases.

Health minister Heather Stefanson says equitable access to vaccines for First Nations people will reduce the strain on hospitals.
