WINNIPEG, MB – With the sun shining and patches of grass beginning to show from underneath the snow, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for football fans that have been waiting patiently since late November to see their favorite CFL players back on the field.
On Thursday the CFL announced that they will once again host three regional combines throughout Canada; with participating players have one final opportunity to earn an invite to the 2018 National CFL Combine taking place in Winnipeg during Mark’s CFL Week.
The University of Manitoba will be well represented with five Bisons receiving invites to the Western Regional Combine being held in Winnipeg March 22.
Fifth year offensive lineman Anthony Daley, fifth year defensive back/safety Tyler Fong, fifth year linebacker James Mau, fourth year defensive back/safety Jayden McKoy and fourth year wide receiver Stephen Ugbah will put their talent on display in hopes of earning an invite to the National CFL Combine taking place March 24-25 in Winnipeg.
Last year the Bisons were represented by seven players at the 2017 CFL Regional Combine and another seven players took part in the Regional Combine in Edmonton in 2016.
Brian Dobie, who’s heading into his 23rd season as head coach of the Bison football program says, the players invited to the combine have earned their opportunity to showcase their talents.
“We are happy and proud to have five Bisons invited to the 2018 CFL Western Regional Combine happening right here in Winnipeg. This is a fantastic opportunity for all the Bison players to showcase their talents that can lead to being drafted at the 2018 CFL Draft in May. All these players have continued to show a strong work ethic during their ongoing preparations for the combines and our whole Bison football program wish them all the best going forward in their pursuit to play in the CFL.”
