PAUINGASSI – On May 28, 2019, at approximately 4:00 pm, Little Grand Rapids RCMP responded to a fire near the community of Pauingassi. The fire appeared to have originated near the school within the community.
Little Grand Rapids RCMP, working in close collaboration with Manitoba Sustainable Development, determined the fire to be deliberately set and an investigation was initiated.
On May 28, three female youths from the community, ages 12, 12, and 15, were arrested and charged with Arson.
On May 29, 2019, at 12:23 pm, Little Grand Rapids RCMP were called to a second fire burning behind the Band Hall Office in the community of Little Grand Rapids.
RCMP officers and community members joined by crews from Manitoba Sustainable Development worked together in an effort to put out the fire, however, due to severe winds, the fire continued to spread.

Two youths from the community, a 12-year-old male and a 14-year-old female, were arrested and charged with Arson.
RCMP along with Manitoba Sustainable Development continue to investigate both incidents.
