Four Men Face 50 Charges After Firing Gun

WINNIPEG – Two men and two youths were arrested after shots were fired just a few blocks from the University of Winnipeg.

Police responded to the area just before 3:00 A.M. on August 23 after a report that shots had been heard on Victor Street.They quickly pulled over a vehicle that had four men inside and placed them all under arrest. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two firearms:

– A loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle

– A sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun

One suspect, a youth male, was found to be in possession of a knife, 3.4 grams of crack cocaine and $450.

Officers also located a nearby residence in the 400 block of McGee with exterior damage consistent with multiple firearm discharges. No one was found inside the house.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and believe that at least one of the arrested individuals had been inside the residence at the time of the incident. It is also believed that the seized firearms do not match ballistic evidence recovered at the scene.

37 year-old Christopher Jesse Dean Greene has been charged with:

– Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Possession of a Weapon (x2)

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x6)

– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)

– Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x4)

21 year-old Austin Mark Chief has been charged with:

– Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Possession of a Weapon (x2)

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)

– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)

A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

– Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Possession of a Weapon (x2)

– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2)

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge (x3)

A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

– Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Possession of a Weapon (x3)

– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x2)

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)

– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (x2)

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge (x3)

They were detained in custody.
