Frightening Array of Weapons Seized in Traffic Stop

WINNIPEG – A frightening array of weapons was seized after police stopped an SUV travelling on Watt Street with an obstructed licence plate.

When police pulled over the vehicle they saw a hatchet inside and placed all four occupants under arrest.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a number of items including:

– A hatchet

– A knife and sheath

– Brass knuckles

– Two large machetes

– An operational “stun gun”

– A loaded sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun

– Numerous rounds of ammunition (various types including .22 calibre and 12 gauge rounds)

– Three masks

31 year-old Pierre Flett has been charged with:

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Possession of a Weapon (x7)

– Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x8)

Flett was also processed on an outstanding arrest warrant for:

– Fail to Appear – Promise to Appear (Identification Unit)

23 year-old Roger Clint Genaille has been charged with:

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Possession of a Weapon (x7)

– Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x7)

Genaille was also processed on an outstanding arrest warrant for:

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

35 year-old Jason Hay of Beausejour, has been charged with:

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Possession of a Weapon (x7)

– Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

32 year-old Christopher Anthony Pirart of Beausejour, has been charged with:

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Possession of a Weapon (x7)

– Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)

All four have been detained in custody.
