Growth Fees Go Back

Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – The city’s latest loss in court involves impact fees that have been collected since 2017.

The judge in the case involving the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association has ordered the $30 million dollars be returned with interest.

City hall is considering its next move but could appeal the decision.

These impact or growth fees would be used to pay for things like community centres and fire halls in new areas of Winnipeg.

Builders and developers say they’re open to cost-sharing but it needs to be done properly.
