High-Risk Sex-Offender to Live in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – A convicted Sex -offender has been released from Stony Mountain Penitentiary and the Manitoba High-Risk Sex Offender Unit has issued a warning that he is at high risk to re-offend in a sexual/violent manner against all females, both children, and adults.

36 year-old Christopher Assiniboine was serving a sentence for sexual assault and uttering threats against an 18 year-old female. This offence was committed when he was on statutory release for a prior conviction of sexual assault against a 14 year-old female. He committed both sexual assault offences while supplying drugs and alcohol to lure vulnerable female victims from a public place in order to commit the offences.

High-Risk Sex-Offender to Live in Winnipeg

Upon release, Assiniboine will be subject to a ten year long term supervision order, which includes conditions such as:

Not to have any contact or communication by any means, with a person under 18 years, unless done so under the supervision of a person whom the court considers appropriate

Reside at a location approved by the Correctional Service of Canada

Not to consume, purchase or possess any drugs other than prescribed medication taken as prescribed

Not to consume, purchase or possess alcohol
