PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE – RCMP in Portage are investigating a homicide in the city that happen on May 23rd of this year.

Around 7:30PM on May 23rd, a 56-year-old man was assaulted by unidentified suspects at his home in the 400 block of Royal Road North. The victim suffered severe, life-threatening injuries, and was taken to hospital.

The victim died from his injuries on June 17th. Police said, this is now a homicide investigation.

RCMP are asking for anyone with knowledge of those involved in this incident, as well as anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around that time, to contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445 or call Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

RCMP said in a news release that there is no risk to the general public in relation to this investigation.
