It’s all about the fans this weekend at Assiniboia Downs.

It’s also the final weekend of live racing in 2018 and features four stakes races.

It all starts Friday with the first post parade at 7:15 p.m. and the opening of Fan Appreciation Weekend. There will be discounts on programs, food and merchandise and double the free spins ($40 in spins to 10 entrants) in the VLT tournament after the races.

Race 2 on Friday is the $30,000 Manitoba Matron Stakes and it will feature Manitoba’s four-year-old super filly Escape Clause. Escape Clause has won five consecutive stakes races and 12 stakes races in the last two years, including the 2017 Manitoba Matron. Escape Clause, the morning line favorite at 1-5, will be up against four other fillies and mares including Kentucky-breds CJ’s Flair and Dandy Deen.

On Saturday, Day 2 of Fan Appreciation Weekend, it’s the $25,000 J.W. Sifton Stakes and the final Las Vegas Challenge tournament. First post parade is at 7:15 and the the morning line favorite, Frank Arnason Sire Stakes winner Why So Blue is 1-5.

On Sunday, it’s the final day of live racing with first post parade at 1:15 p.m. Race 3 is the $30,000 Winnipeg Futurity for two-year-olds. Graduation Stakes winner Mr. Dazzle is the favorite at 9-5 while the Don Schnell-trained Say It’s Not So is next at 3-1.
