WINNIPEG – The Second Annual Reverse Job Fair is being hosted by Project SEARCH Winnipeg. The event takes place Thursday May 17 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre. The fair will give employers the opportunity to meet candidates who are eager to help diversify workplaces and contribute to the success of their business.
Youth in attendance have been supported and trained by Project SEARCH Winnipeg. This initiative prepares the students for employment by working on soft skills and providing valuable work experiences while embedded within large organizations for a 10 month period.
The students gain these skills while embedded within the Project SEARCH site hosts: Manitoba Hydro, The Government of Manitoba and HSC Winnipeg. They are available to begin working upon completion of the Project SEARCH year, which ends June, 2018.
At the Reverse Job Fair, employers can expect to meet up to 23 jobseekers, showcasing their skills and experience. The Fair is organized for the ease of employers as business reps can, on a “come and go” basis and be introduced to students who would qualify for the positions they hire for.
“Last year’s fair was an incredible success, directly resulting in some great employment opportunities for Project SEARCH students and interns,” said Oly Backstrom, President and CEO, SCE LifeWorks. “The goal this year is to double the number of businesses who attend, and help even more jobseekers connect with great employers.”
