The dedicated volunteers of KidFish didn’t let the disappointment of having to scuttle the annual fishing derby stop them from raising important funding for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
The 2020 KidFish Ice Derby was scheduled for Jan 5th – but severe ice conditions, water levels 9 feet higher than normal, extremely fast current, and eroding/unpredictable ice thickness all contributed to the decision to cancel.
Instead, the organizing committee will be hosting a Fundraising Social on Saturday, February 29th starting at 8 PM, at the Transcona Country Club, 2070 Dugald Road at Plessis.
The rocking tunes of OUTLOUD will provide the entertainment, and over $40,000 worth of prizes are at auction including tons of fishing and hunting packages and gear like fly-in guided tours and hunts, dive courses, restaurant gift cards, a $1000 Cabella’s prize package, a Blue Bomber prize pack, and Jets tickets for the March 6th game against Las Vegas.
“KidFish mobilizes the kindness and generosity of the outdoor community to provide help and comfort to local kids and families in need. ”
“This year our fundraising efforts are heading towards the following needs:
– The Adolescent and Young Adult program (AYA) hosting of the AYA YACK conference 2020 in Winnipeg,
– CCMB After Care Program for children dealing with cancer long term,
– the ongoing day to day needs of families and their Kids Undergoing Treatments, and
– the completion of the KIDFISH sponsored CH5 Playroom.”
