WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s new NDP government has tabled its first budget which includes tax cuts and rebates as promised during last fall’s election campaign.

The provincial fuel tax holiday has been extended by three months until the end of September.

The budget also keeps promises of free prescription birth control, a higher tax credit for fertility treatments and rebates on electric vehicles.

The governing New Democrats are also revamping the education tax on properties with a new flat credit that will see owners of less expensive homes pay less while those with more expensive homes will pay more.
