Kitchen Aid Kettle Recall in Canada

Manitoba PostNews

WINNIPEG, MB – Whirlpool has recalled KitchenAid 1.7 L Electric Kettle because the handle on the kettle can loosen and separate from the body causing hot contents to spill, posing a burn hazard.

This recall involves KitchenAid 1.7 L Electric Kettles with a metal body and a plastic handle sold in various colours across Canada. The affected products can be identified by the combination of both the product model number and the product serial number. These numbers are located on the label on the bottom of the kettle and also on the bottom of the base.

The Health Canada website states that as of January 23, 2018, the company has received 19 reports of handle detachment in Canada, and 1 report of minor burn injuries. In the United States, the company has received 79 reports of handle detachment, and 3 reports of minor burn injuries.

There were 47,350 units of the recalled products sold in Canada and were sold from September 2013 to February 2018.
