WINNIPEG, MB. – Kurt Browning, the four-time World Champion, is pairing up with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra from January 19 to 21 at the Centennial Concert Hall.
Browning will be hosting a behind-the-scenes look at the music of figure skating. It will be a night of laughs, skating and live music with the full WSO. Also featuring the vocal talents of Geoffrey Tyler, the concert uses projected footage and images of famous figure skating routines to help the audience relive the magical moments of the sport.
The concert features themes from The Phantom of the Opera and The Producers; music from popular classics like Swan Lake and Carmen; and hits like Singin’ in the Rain, What a Wonderful World and Sing, Sing, Sing. Browning has some surprises in store for the audience and may even wear inline skates to recreate his most famous routine.
Music of the Ice was conceptualized by conductor Lucas Waldin. He’s worked with pop stars like Carly Rae Jepsen, The Barenaked Ladies, and Buffy Sainte-Marie, and conducted presentations like Disney in Concert, and Blue Planet Live. He received the Jean-Marie Beaudet Award for Orchestra Conducting in recognition of his accomplishments.
