WINNIPEG – Would you love to take a trip to China? Now, the Lights of the North is bringing China to Winnipeg. With only a couple of weeks to go, the exhibits are going up fast. 50 artists from China are working diligently to create the magical display of colour and lights that will take over Red River Exhibition Park starting August 31, 2018. The displays are illuminated by millions of LED lights and are built using various common items such as plates, cups and saucers, medicine vials, plastic bottles and ping-pong balls.
There will be traditional Chinese performances by professional performers, that will open your eyes. Artisans from China will demonstrate their talents on site making heritage handcrafts to the delight of audiences and shoppers. There will be food — both local and Chinese — and, of course, beer gardens where you can sit and watch the late-night fireworks.
The kids will be thrilled with Dinosaur World, which offers augmented reality experiences in “Jurassic Park” as well as life-size walking dinosaurs interacting with visitors. In addition, there will be a carnival game and rides. Visitors can create their own dinosaur on a giant “Lite Brite” screen or ride a bicycle to generate electricity to light up a central display.
This is a truly magical show that will be here to delight Winnipeggers and thousands of visitors from around the world.
