WINNIPEG – A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged after a short pursuit that required AIR 1 involvement.

Saturday morning at 12:15AM officers driving near Pembina and Grandmont Boulevard spotted a sedan driving at a high rate of speed and without any lights on.

When police tried to pull the car over, the driver took off. AIR1 became involved in the search and located the car, abandoned, near Ashworth Street South and Hirt Avenue.

At the same time, other officers involved in the search were travelling nearby on Lambeth Road when a man ran across the road right in front of them. The man tried to jump a fence, but failed and was easily taken into custody.

Police said the vehicle was stolen and had stolen licences plates on it, they believe had been taken that day.

Greg Livingstone Harris, a 54-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of Break-In Instrument(s)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was detained in custody.
