Man Arrested Carrying a Loaded Handgun Near McGregor Street

WINNIPEG – Police found a loaded .25 caliber handgun and more on a 33-year-old man they arrested Monday morning.

Police say they tried to speak with a man who was committing an offence under the Highway Traffic Act near McGregor St. and Redwood Ave. The man, however ran from police. He was quickly caught and arrested. Police searched the man and found of a loaded .25 calibre handgun, ammunition, digital scales as well as small amounts of methamphetamine and marihuana and $355 in Canadian cash.

Darryl Andrew Murphy,33-years-old, was charged with:

  • Possess Firearm Obtained By Crime
  • Possess Prohibited Ammunition / Device Knowing Its Unauthorized
  • Possess Prohibited Firearm Knowing Its Unauthorized
  • Transport Firearm Contrary To Regulations
  • Possess Loaded Prohibited Firearm
  • Possess Firearm / Ammunitions Contrary To Prohibition Order ( x4 )
  • Carry Concealed Prohibited Weapon / Firearm / Ammunition ( x2 )
  • Possess Weapon
  • Resist Arrest
