WINNIPEG – Manitoba has named Jackie Connell the new assistant deputy minister of Indigenous excellence in education.

She will offer advice to the government on a variety of policies.

Education and early childhood learning minister Nello Altomare says education which reflects the province is key to ensuring kids are able to learn in their own cultures while also learning about the cultures of other Manitobans.

Connell will start in the position on January 29th.
