WINNIPEG, MB – The Manitoba Bisons top athletes for the week come from hockey and basketball.
The female athlete of the week is Alanna Sharman from Winnipeg.
The Bison women’s hockey team continues to win on the road with a weekend sweep of Lethbridge Pronghorns on February 2-3. Bison fourth year forward Sharman had two multi-point games during the two road victories with four assists and with a plus/minus rating of +4 and she was named Third Star of the Game in first game.
The male athlete of the week is Justus Alleyn from the basketball team who was born in Montreal and attended school in Winnipeg at St. Paul’s High School
To end the 2017-18 Canada West men’s basketball season, the Manitoba Bisons finished strong with a road weekend sweep of the Fraser Valley Cascades on February 2-3 weekend.
Bison fifth year guard and co-captain Alleyn led the way for the sweep as he finished with 48 points on 14-40 shooting, plus 16-19 from the foul line (84.2%) plus he added ten rebounds and three assists, and had five steals in 64 minutes of play during the two games.
In addition, with the 48 points he scored, Alleyn captured Canada West conference men’s basketball scoring title with 24.1 points per game and becomes the first Bison to accomplish this feat.
