WINNIPEG, MB. – Manitoba Finance has appointed a new member to the board of directors of the Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba (DGCM) and one new member to the Insurance Council of Manitoba.
Dale Ward (Winnipeg) has been appointed to the board of directors of the DGCM. Ward is a business administration graduate of Red River College and obtained his fellow’s designation from the Credit Union Institute of Canada. He has several years of experience in the financial services sector and retired in 2014 from a senior manager position at the Credit Union Central of Manitoba where he was employed for over 35 years.
Patricia Horncastle (Winnipeg) has been appointed to the Life Insurance Council of the Insurance Council of Manitoba. Horncastle is vice-president and chief operating officer of Wawanesa Life Insurance Company (2002 to present). She previously served as director of finance for the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities.
Manitoba Finance thanked the outgoing board member for their service.
As set out in The Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, the DGCM’s mandate is to guarantee deposits in credit unions and caisses populaires (CU/CP), promote CU/CP development of sound business practices and ensure CU/CP operate under sound business practices.
The Insurance Council of Manitoba is the regulatory body responsible for the licensing and discipline of insurance agents, brokers and adjusters in the province of Manitoba. The council has established standards for applicants and licensees that promote high standards of professionalism, competence and integrity in the insurance industry.
