Winnipeg, MB. – The Manitoba Moose not only wrapped up their third game in three days with a 5 to 1 win over the Toronto Marlies they sit in the top spot of the AHL.

Toronto opened the scoring at 8:18 in the first period when Ben Smith fired one past Michael Hutchinson off the rush. Manitoba tied it up with 5:30 to go in the first when Michael Spacek put a pass down low to Mason Appleton who found Nic Petan iwho one-timed the puck that tied it up to finish the period.
Kirill Gotovets put the Moose ahead for the first time with his one-timer. The defenceman fired his shot from the point with Buddy Robinson parked in front, and the puck found its way to the back of the net 3:43 into the period. Hutchinson was busy during the second period stopping 14 shots from the Marlies.
The Moose penalty kill came up with a key stop early in the period. Down two skaters for 48 seconds, the Moose shut down the Marlies power play to maintain their one-goal edge. Jack Roslovic put a damper on the Marlies comeback hopes when scored at 11:33 of the period.
Toronto, not ready to give up, pulled Pickard from his net with just under four minutes remaining. The Moose took advantage of the open ney twice, with Patrice Cormier and Buddy Robinson each scoring to push Manitoba to the top of the AHL standings with a 5-1 win.
