WINNIPEG, MB. – Friday evening Kevin Klein, Publisher and CEO, was excited to announce the newest reporter/journalist for the Manitoba Post, Carter Brooks.

Working alongside many members of Manitoba Post in various forms over the past number of years, Brooks, the local Winnipegger, has honed his news writing skills, while continuing to produce content from the local and global sporting community.

Brooks, alongside fellow sports writer Scott Taylor, has been covering the Winnipeg Jets as a beat writer, and will continue to provide game stories, as well as breaking news and information surrounding both the Jets and their affiliate Manitoba Moose.

“The Manitoba Post is a very exciting avenue for both myself and all of our dedicated readers,” he said. “Providing Manitoba-focused content as an independent news outlet speaks volumes of Kevin Klein and the rest of the staff here. I’m really looking forward to 2018 and all that this new opportunity brings.”

After completing his degree in journalism, Brooks found work with The Hockey News Magazine in Toronto – an experience he won’t soon forget.

“The Hockey News was certainly an excellent stepping stone for my writing career,” Brooks said. “My job was to interview professional athletes every day, while writing, editing and proofing stories for the world-renowned magazine that I grew up reading every month as a little kid. There are a lot of habits that I picked up in Toronto that I’d like to say I’ve brought back to Winnipeg.”

Brooks, who has spent the last number of years coaching minor hockey within Winnipeg, also enjoys music – notably that of the country genre. After attending multiple runnings of Dauphin’s Countryfest as a fan, Brooks covered both 2016 and 2017 in Dauphin for local media, and will surely be providing coverage to Manitoba Post in summer 2018.
