WINNIPEG – Manitoba Hydro’s CEO says the province could need new sources of energy generation as early as 2029.

The Crown corporation plans to reach out to independent producers to supply power from wind and other sources.

Jay Grewal says she is confident Manitoba-based companies will be the ones that step up.

She believes this is the best approach, as building another generating station would be costly and could take decades.
